In this course you will learn about the range of measures that are in place to promote domestic economic growth through procurement.

This learning experience has been provided by Department of Finance.

Participants Benefits 

  • Describe what a domestic economic benefit is, the purpose of the requirements, and when they apply.
  • Consider the economic benefit of a procurement to the Australian economy in the context of determining value for money.
  • Identify the requirements and measures that are in place.
  • Discuss what procurement officials need to do.
  • Describe how suppliers can provide a domestic economic benefit.

Considerations 

  • There is some assumed foundational knowledge of procurement legislation and policy, the procurement lifecycle, value for money, and reporting. This could be through the Procurement Basics course or through prior training or experience.

  • Purpose of the requirement.
  • What procurement officials need to do.
  • Small to Medium Enterprise (SME) commitments.
  • The Indigenous Procurement Policy (IPP).
  • Publish procurement plans for significant procurements to engage the market early.
  • The Australian Industry Participation National Framework.
  • Paragraphs 4.7 and 4.8 of the CPRs.
  • How can a supplier provide a domestic economic benefit.
  • Panel arrangements.
