Tom Rogers
Tom Rogers AO served as the Australian Electoral Commissioner from 2014 to 2024 during a period of significant challenges for the Australian Electoral Commission (AEC). He was the AEC’s longest serving Commissioner, and oversaw delivery of multiple federal electoral events, the 2023 referendum, and national boundary redistributions.

During his tenure, the AEC was rated Australia’s most trusted federal agency and the agency with the highest levels of public satisfaction.

He previously served as Executive Director of the Australian Institute of Police Management, responsible for executive development programs for police and public safety leaders from Australia, New Zealand, and international partners. His private sector experience includes senior roles with Raytheon Australia, including responsibility for readiness activities supporting the Sydney Olympics.

Tom began his career as an Army officer. Graduating from the Royal Military College Duntroon, he served in operational roles including as a United Nations commander in the Golan Heights, and later as Senior Instructor in Leadership at Duntroon. He is a Distinguished Advisor to the National Security College, an advisory board member for International IDEA, and the Electoral Psychology Observatory at the London School of Economics, and the independent panel member for the Western Australian Electoral Commission Expert Advisory Committee.
