The Workforce Planning Boost Program is a collection of modules that target the development of technical workforce planning skills. These units have been co-designed by the APS Centre of Excellence for Workforce Planning, with workforce planning experts and academics from across Australia. This program is designed for mid-career workforce planners, and those who have completed the Workforce Planning Start Up Program, to further build their workforce planning toolkit. While each module is completed individually, they all form a wider program to build workforce planning skills.

In this module, participants will apply workforce planning to determine crucial capabilities and understand the organisational culture required to meet future business needs.

This content has been provided by the Australian Public Service Commission.

Participant benefits

  • Develop evidence-based strategies to build, measure and evaluate a fit-for-purpose culture.
  • Explore techniques for identifying organisational culture and whether it is fit-for-purpose to meet future business needs.
  • Understand how to leverage a capability framework determine current and future capabilities for business needs.
  • Explore principles, tools and techniques to determine crucial capabilities.

Suitable for

APS 5 – SES Band 1 participants who have completed the Workforce Planning Start Up Program and/or those with at least two years’ relevant experience in strategic HR practice, workforce planning, organisational design or job design.

Category and User Level

This learning experience is part of the APS Workforce Planning Boost Program and aligns with the Strategy, Policy and Evaluation Craft at the Practitioner level.
