The APS Academy is now offering executive coaching before, during and after APS Academy SES leadership programs to help participants apply and sustain the learning in their everyday work.
SES Executive Coaching provides confidential, personalised support tailored to the unique leadership challenges and responsibilities of SES officers. SES coaching complements APS Academy SES leadership programs by helping leaders apply learning in their day-to-day work, strengthen judgement and accelerate their development. Since launching, the offering has had a strong uptake and there is growing interest from agencies seeking development opportunities for their SES leaders.

About SES Executive Coaching
SES Executive Coaching supports leaders before, during and after APS Academy SES leadership programs, helping them apply and sustain learning in the workplace.
Executive coaching provides a confidential space for leaders to think clearly, challenge assumptions, strengthen judgement and work through the leadership issues they face. It is particularly valuable when navigating complexity and uncertainty, balancing competing priorities, responding to system pressures and heightened expectations, or experimenting with new approaches to leadership.
For SES leaders, development is not a one-off event. It is an ongoing practice of decision-making or action, reflection, learning and adjustment. Coaching supports this practice by creating time and structure for a more deliberate approach.
Through coaching, SES leaders can:
- progress development goals identified through 360-degree feedback and other development activities
- work through complex challenges and transitions
- strengthen judgement in ambiguous or high-stakes environments
- lead effectively in complex and contested environments

Who can participate?
SES leaders who are enrolled in, currently participating in, or alumni of APS Academy SES leadership development programs. Other coaching requests may be considered on a case-by-case basis.
