The APS Inclusive Onboarding Toolkit (Toolkit) assists agencies to foster accessible and inclusive onboarding practices. It helps agencies meet their obligations under the Public Service Act 1999, which requires agencies to promote a workforce that reflects the diversity of the Australian population. The Toolkit is designed for business areas, managers, and employees.

The Toolkit contains practical information and resources that can be used to:

  • Create a workplace culture that is accessible, inclusive, and safe.
  • Assist business areas to provide appropriate supports for people with disability or neurodivergence during onboarding.
  • Build managers’ confidence in supporting disability and neurodiversity when onboarding new employees.
  • Support employees with disability and/or neurodivergence as they navigate a new work environment, helping them access the supports they need during the onboarding process.

Participant Benefits

  • Use practical resources to build a workplace environment that is accessible, inclusive, and safe.
  • Ensure new team members with disability and neurodivergence feel welcome and supported from day one.
  • Build confidence and capability across the organisation to provide appropriate disability and neurodivergent supports during onboarding.
  • Improve employee outcomes and enhance organisational diversity through inclusive onboarding, ensuring employees with disability and neurodivergence can access the supports they need to thrive.
