By the Integrity Branch at the Department of Industry Science and Resources
The highly successful APS Integrity hypothetical series returns this November, brought to you by the Department of Industry, Science and Resources (DISR) - Integrity Branch in collaboration with the APS Academy.
These events educate the APS on real-life hypothetical scenarios that focus on discussing integrity issues in the workplace. They also help strengthen integrity culture through curiosity and learning.
About the session
Facilitated by Rodney Lee Walsh, this 1-hour session will challenge a panel of senior executives with hypothetical scenarios designed to test their integrity. Learn about the risks posed by insider threats and how to identify and manage potential integrity challenges they raise.
Insider threats arise from trusted insiders, a current or former employee or contractor who has legitimate or indirect access to the people, information, techniques, activities, technology, assets and facilities of a workplace.
An Insider threat is the potential for an insider to intentionally or unintentionally use their access to conduct activities that could cause harm to or negatively affect a workplace. Types of insider threat include espionage, sabotage, violence, fraud and theft.
Attendees will be provided with a practical understanding of the topic and an idea of how to mitigate and manage similar situations in their workplace. They will also:
- gain insights on the types of insider threats and their impacts
- witness how these hypothetical scenarios are resolved
- gain effective strategies for managing similar situations
- build sound judgement skills for integrity issues.
This discussion aligns with DISR’s goal of lifting awareness and capability of security and the integrity of information across government and staff as government officials.
There will also be an opportunity for you to ask questions about the topic and discuss scenarios through Slido. Keep an eye out for more information about our panellists.
