Complex Project Management Profession

The Complex Project Management Profession builds the capability and capacity of the APS workforce while evaluating and navigating the various dimensions of project complexity.

The profession will establish a whole of APS employment life cycle approach to attract, develop, retain and deploy a workforce who have skills in complex project management. These skills will help the APS better plan and execute clear project strategies through the management of cost, schedule, and scope, ultimately reducing risk and driving greater value for money, while considering the evolving elements of complexity.

Complex Project Management Profession Strategy

The Complex Project Management Profession Strategy provides a structured approach to the development of complex project management (CPM) skills across the APS. It outlines the key themes and initiatives required to better manage complexity across the delivery of government projects, policy and services.

This will enable the profession to connect, strengthen practices, collaborate across agencies, and strategically build capability and talent in the CPM workforce and across the wider APS.

Head of the Complex Project Management Profession

Co-Head, Chris Deeble, Deputy Secretary of the Capability Acquisition and Sustainment Group of the Department of Defence, and Co-Head Dr Liz Develin, Deputy Secretary of the Primary and Community Care Group of the Department of Health and Aged Care, work in tandem to ensure the profession promotes capability and development across the APS.
