​APS writing principles is Course 2 of the Writing in the APS self-paced interactive eLearning courses. It covers the principles of effective writing in the Australian Public Service, drawing from Australian Government Style Manual guidance.

This learning experience has been provided by the Australian Public Service Commission.

  • Apply the principles of plain language and create concise sentences.
  • Structure writing, including sentences and paragraphs with logical flow.
  • Identify purpose and audience and write with appropriate tone and voice.
  • Apply the principles of headings, lists and tables in written communications.
  • Apply Australian Government Style Manual guidance to government writing.
